Nowadays if someone asks me to take newborn photos I always explain that I only do in-home lifestyle sessions. I do not have the studio equipment or the training to pose newborn babies in cute perfect poses with their heads propped up on their hands or swaddled perfectly and nestled peacefully in a basket. If you are looking for that style of newborn photography, I highly recommend Angie Englerth Photography. She took our daughter's photos in her beautiful, cozy home studio and she is an amazing baby whisperer!
What I most enjoy, and what I feel I am best at, is capturing your tiny newbie in their home environment, doing what they do every day: eat, sleep, cry and poop. This lifestyle session of Janet and Isaac's one-month-old son Kai is an example of this (though he slept through almost the entire photo shoot, amazingly!). Changing diapers, big yawns and stretches, tiny fingers, fuzzy heads and lots of love and snuggles from mom and dad. I have to say that Janet did one heck of a job decorating Kai's nautical themed nursery. I hope to see these photos popping up all over Pinterest nursery searches in the near future! (and by the way, if you are looking for some awesome nautical artwork, check out the watercolor paintings of The Colorful Cat Studio by Rachel Byler) Kai was exactly one month old the day we took these photos. I adore his full head of hair and big brown eyes and I'm sure you will too!
